On Tuesday, April 13th at 7PM, join HNAC and Jewish studies in attending “Who ‘Sees Themselves’ in Jewish Children’s Books?”, a lecture by Dr. Amanda Mbuvi.
In the children’s book Rebecca’s Journey Home, an American family’s international adoption experience illuminates Jewish identity’s relationship to issues of race, religion, and nationality. In this talk, Amanda Mbuvi will explore the Jewish tradition’s potential for reimagining belonging in ways that transcend the limitations of American racial logic, so that any body can be seen as a Jewish body.
