This talk will reflect on different major research projects – the homophile movement; the Rustin biography; the current Chicago-based research – and comment on how the process of research has changed over time. It will consider the different kinds of availability of archival materials over the decades, the different kinds of sources, and also reflect on how LGBT history has been used to foster activism and social change.
The talk will be followed by commentary by Mandy Carter,Co-Founder of Southerners on New Ground (SONG) and the National Black Justice Coalition
